CHATTANOOGA (March 16, 2024) --- The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Wofford in its home Southern Conference opener on a cool Saturday afternoon at the UTC Tennis Center on campus.
 
Following the defeat, Chattanooga falls to 6-7 overall on the season and 1-1 in SoCon action. Wofford improved to 11-4 overall and also features a league record at 1-1.
 
The Terriers claimed the doubles point with a strong 6-1 victory at No. 1 before clinching the team tally with a 6-4 decision at No. 3. The duo of Caroline Gibbens and Madlena Orlova wrapped up the format with a 6-4 victory at No. 2.
 
In singles play, Orlova kicked things off with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 2 before Wofford claimed a 6-2, 6-4 win at the No. 6 slot. The Mocs tied the match 2-2 after Emma Peeler posted a 6-0, 7-6 (9-7) victory at the No. 4 position. Wofford captured the match-clinching fourth point with a 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 3 before ending things with a 6-7, 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 5.
