Makenzie Cooper led the Chattanooga Mocs on the final day of the UNF Collegiate as the Mocs set or threatened program records.

JACKSONVILLE---The Chattanooga Mocs closed strong for a fourth-place finish at the Momentum Transportation UNF Collegiate. The Mocs shot 6-under 282 for a 4-under total of 860.
"All-in-all, we're really proud of the way the girls played this week," Coach Colette Murray opened. "Although we didn't have our best games for the first few rounds, they didn't give up. Today was a pivotal day for this team. Sarah (asst. coach Busey) and I have never been more convinced that this team is now ready to win. We truly believe it is on the horizon."
The Mocs began on holes 6-8. They were 2 under through their first 10-12 holes before a birdie fest over the closing stretch to jump to 6 under. The counting cards registered 17 birdies over the final 18, a school-record 42 for the 54 holes.
Today's work was led by Makenzie Cooper's 4-under 68. That was one better than Violeta Fernandez-Tagle with 69. Kera Healey added 70 with a spotless card featuring two birdies and 16 pars. Giulia Foresta closed the account with 75, while Neives Martin's 76 was the drop tally.
Fernandez-Tagle claimed another top 10 finish ending up tied for seventh at 5-under 211, a new career scoring low. Giulia Foresta also posted a new top total with 1-under 215 in a tie for 16th. Cooper was next at even par in a tie for 22nd, while Healey totaled 220 and Martin 224 for the week.
Sam Houston got the team win with a fantastic final round performance. It shot 18-under 270 to end up with a 16-under total of 848 to win by five over UTSA. Host North Florida was next with 859, one ahead of the Mocs in fourth who were one better than Western Kentucky in fifth. The Ospreys' Christin Eisenbeiss and New Mexico State's Emma Bunch shared medalist honors at 12 under.
The Mocs are back on the tee in a week at the Chris Banister Invitational. The short drive to Gadsden, Ala., sees the group play March 10-12 at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail's Silver Lakes Course.
