ABOUT CHATTANOOGA GOLF
FRANKLIN, Tenn.---The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team is through 36 holes at the Mason Rudolph Championships. The second round 296 today on the VU Legends Club North Course gives the ladies a total of 591 which is tied with Middle Tennessee ahead of Lipscomb.
Makenzie Cooper and
Violeta Fernandez-Tagle led the day with twin 73s.
Kera Healey and
Giulia Foresta also matched with 75 to complete the counting cards.
Chloe Stevenazzi's 81 was the drop number.
Fernandez-Tagle leads the squad over two rounds with level-par 144. Healey (148), Foresta (149) and Cooper (150) are separated by just two strokes. Stevenazzi rounds out the group with 166.
Texas and Georgia Southern made big moves today. The Longhorns climbed four spots into the lead at 555. The Eagles made an 8-spot climb to second, four back at 559. There's a 5-way tie atop the player leaderboard at 135.
"We were really proud of how the girls fought today," Coach
Colette Murray stated. "Only one hole really hurt us costing us 5 shots. We have one more day to play, and the girls are feeling like we are due a good one. Both Sarah (asst. coach Busey) and I feel it too."
Stevenazzi leads off Sunday morning at 9:50 a.m., Eastern time. She's followed by Cooper (9:59), Foresta (10:08), Healey (10:17) and Fernandez-Tagle (10:26). in 9-minute intervals. The group is paired with Kentucky and individuals from Vanderbilt.

Notes
- 591 is tied for the fourth best 36-hole score for the program in 11 visits to the Mason Rudolph. The best (579-2022) and sixth on the list (592-2023) came in the last two visits.
- It was the 18th hole that vexed the Mocs today. The par 5 was No. 9 today with the team starting in the back nine. Two doubles and a bogey paired with a par for five of the Mocs 8 over second round total.
- Fernandez-Tagle is even through 36 holes. This is the fourth time she's been par or better heading into a collegiate final round.
- Cooper led the squad with five birdies today. The team recorded 12 on the counting cards which is a new season high.
- It's the fifth time Cooper's recorded five or more birdies in a round. Her high is six done twice last season.
