DeLand, Fla. (September 21, 2024) – The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team showcased early success during its first competitive weekend of the 2024 fall season after wrapping up the two-day Stetson Invite event on Saturday at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center in DeLand, Fla.
 
Chattanooga totaled seven victories during Friday and Saturday's action between both singles and doubles play against the likes of Kennesaw State, Louisiana and host Stetson. There were a lot of bright spots for the Mocs, including the play of freshman newcomers Zara Burns and Savannah Presson.
 
"The team battled in our first matches of the season," said head coach Chad Camper after Friday's opening day. "We saw big doubles wins from freshman Zara Burns [with Margaret Manolache], and Savannah Presson also had a great singles win."
 
The second and final day of action capped off a great opening performance from the team. The learning experience in weekend number one leaves the program ready to improve moving forward.
 
"The girls played tough this weekend," added Camper. "There was a lot of good quality tennis, and we will learn a lot from this moving forward. Savannah [Presson] played outstanding singles and Zara [Burns] earned some quality doubles wins."
