NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Chattanooga had arguably its most dominant performance on Thursday night at Tennessee State, defeating the Tigers 81-51. The 30-point win is Chattanooga's (6-5) largest against Division I opposition this season.Â
Once again,
Caia Elisaldez and
Gianna Corbitt put up great numbers. Elisaldez scored a game-high 23 points while dishing out seven assists. Corbitt was right behind her with 21 rebounds and 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the year. She was 88.9% (8-9) from the field and 100% (4-4) from three.Â
Chattanooga raced out to an 11-2 lead inside the first five minutes of the game to set the tone. The lead would remain at nine points as the quarter progressed with the Mocs up 19-10 at the end of the quarter. Corbitt and Elisaldez combined for 15 of the 19 points.Â
Within the first two minutes of the second quarter, TSU (1-8) knocked down a pair of baskets, including a triple to cut the lead to four points. Chattanooga later responded with an 11-2 run capped off by a 3-pointer by
Kalifa Ford to put it up 31-18. The two teams traded a few baskets for the remainder of the quarter with Chattanooga up 37-24 at halftime.
Chattanooga got hot in the third quarter, scoring 25 points and pushing its lead to 62-42. Elisaldez buried a turnaround jumper at the buzzer to end the quarter. During the quarter, the Mocs hit four triples.Â
In the fourth quarter, Chattanooga scored the first nine points to eliminate any thoughts of a late comeback for TSU. In the quarter, the Mocs outscored the Tigers by 10 as they cruised to an 81-51 victory.
Also in double figures offensively for Chattanooga was
Kalifa Ford, who scored 11 points and five rebounds.
Ava Card, who made her first start of the year, brought in a career-high nine rebounds.Â
The Mocs shot 54% (34-63) from the field while holding Tennessee State to 33.3% (18-54) shooting. Chattanooga dominated the glass, outrebounding the home side 41-29.

"We really wanted this win. That was what we kept talking about, is to walk in here and get the dub and keep a streak going into conference play."
