Opening Statement
"I love March. I love the games in March. I love the energy. We just played a really talented Alabama A&M team that gave us everything they had, and it wouldn't be March if we didn't make it close. But to play in a really tough, close game, our last game out and not get it done, it feels great to show the other side of it and be on the other side of that and win the game. I think that we now know who we are as a team. We know our identity, and you're seeing how well we play together. I think that the poise and the composure of our group when we had two minutes and 30 seconds left, and we were down by four, for us to come together, get stops; for our defense really to come up and then for us to have great execution down the stretch, hit some big free throws, I'm really proud of our group and our execution.
On what has impressed her from the play of Gianna Corbitt.
"Gianna is a very special player and we're putting everybody on notice. Next year, it's gonna be a tough slide for everybody who has to match up against G. She's so talented, she shot the three really well tonight, which we've been working on that, she's put in a lot of effort to that. I feel like she's such a dynamic player and there's no matchup that really slows her down because she's able to drive, she's able to shoot it. I'm really excited to see her showcase that. Also, she's a winner. That's what she does. In big games, she wants the ball in her hands. I'm just proud of her for finishing out the game."
Gianna Corbitt, Fr., F
On when the 'light turned on' for her tonight.
"When we lost the UNCG. It left a bad taste on my mouth. To know that we were able to still play in our home gym for this one, that was big. And it's not just me, it's my teammates too. We played not the best game, but we were able to get it done."
On what was going through her head from start to finish.
"Just take it one stop at a time and go on transition. We had mishaps and things that happened, but we can't really control that. Coach always preaches composure and poise, and that's what we had to do with it at the end of the day. We had to be tougher than them."
