CHATTANOOGA (April 6, 2025) – The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team battled tough against nationally ranked No. 39 Furman before eventually dropping a 6-1 decision on a rainy Sunday morning inside the Strang-Voges Tennis Center in Chattanooga.
 
Chattanooga (10-10, 1-5 SoCon) played to an extremely tight doubles point against No. 39 Furman (16-3, 5-0 SoCon) before the Paladins took five of six singles matches to claim the 6-1 win. The perennial power Furman has claimed 42 of the past 44 meetings in the series with the Mocs last win coming on March 29, 2015.
 
In the No. 1 slot of doubles play, Rozalie Dohnalova and Alice Hall posted a 7-6 (3) victory over Furman's Sara Snyder and Ellie Schulson, who entered ranked No. 72 in the latest ITA National Rankings (doubles). The Paladins eventually claimed a 7-6 (5) tiebreaker win at the No. 3 position to jump ahead 1-0.
 
The Mocs saw Alice Hall earn a 6-2, 6-4 win in the No. 6 spot in singles play to provide the squad its lone team point of the morning. Dohnalova (No. 1) and Zara Burns (No. 5) both went the distance before eventually falling in tight three-set matches.
 
"The team has played the top two teams in the Southern Conference extremely tough over the last two days, and I'm proud of their fight," said head coach Chad Camper.
 
"We are certainly hitting our stride late in the year and that's encouraging because you always want to play your best heading into the SoCon Tournament."
