RECAP: Women’s Golf Finishes in Top 6 at Georgia

Giulia Foresta led the Chattanooga Mocs over the final 18 holes at the Liz Murphey Collegiate.

Quick Recap: The Chattanooga Mocs finished sixth at the Liz Murphey Collegiate in Athens, Ga. The Mocs ended the 54 holes with 307 over the final 18 at UGA Golf Course Tuesday.
 
Giulia Foresta paced the effort with a 3-over 75. Violeta Fernandez-Tagle and Kera Healey added 76s to the team tally with Makenzie Cooper and Chloe Stevenazzi matching each other with 80s.
 
Georgia Southern ran away with the win by 14 strokes over host Georgia. Missouri was third followed by Alabama and Oklahoma just ahead of the Mocs. The Sooners Audrey Rischer was medalist with level-par 216.

Notes
  • UGA Golf Course played particularly hard all week with a 77.24 stroke average for the field. The Mocs were above average with a 75.92 on the counting cards.
  • The Mocs had a struggle on the par 3s shooting an uncharacteristic 3.38 (+18) on those four holes for the tournament with a final round average of 3.56 (+9). Entered the event with a 3.21 mark on par 3 scoring through the first eight events.
  • 3 under on the par 5 ties for the second-best score of the season on the long holes (Evie Odom Invite). The season's best is 5 under at the Westbrook Invitational in February.
  • The Mocs transition to postseason play with the Southern Conference Championships starting Monday in Columbia, S.C. Chattanooga is a 5-time winner of the event (2010-14) and boasts seven medalists:
