Coach Rusty Wright and Scrappy joined Food City executives as the Chattanooga Mocs took in the grand opening celebrations for the Lee Highway location.
CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs helped celebrate a valued partner this week as the Official Supermarket of the Mocs, Food City, held grand opening celebrations for their newest store. Head Football Coach Rusty Wright and Scrappy were on hand to help usher in the newest Food City location in the greater Chattanooga area. It's a partnership near and dear to Wright.
"They've been a great partner for us," Coach Rusty Wright said. "I don't just mean our program. The Food City Fueling Stations in the arena and weight room are vital and impact all student-athletes.
"We are extremely grateful for their investment in our players."
The football program purchases Food City gift cards for its scholarship student-athletes over the summer months with the team on campus and working towards a new season. This year, Food City added $5,000 in value to those cards providing significant impact on nutrition for the department.
There are two Food City Fueling Stations in athletic venues. The most prominent is in the Wolford Family Strength & Conditioning Center while a second was added near the new football locker room in McKenzie Arena. Both locations impact all programs and are a crucial investment in the health and well-being of the Chattanooga Mocs.
"Food City is proud to be the Official Supermarket of the Mocs. We are excited to expand our Food City Fueling Station initiative to include support for the football program's scholarship student athletes during the summer months," said Kevin Stafford, vice president of marketing for Food City.
