COOKEVILLE, Tenn.
— The Chattanooga women's soccer team earned a hard-fought 2–2 draw on the road Thursday evening against Tennessee Tech at the Tech Soccer Field. Despite trailing early, the Mocs rallied behind standout performances from
Caroline Richvalsky and
Paige Thomas to extend their unbeaten streak to four matches.
Tennessee Tech struck first in the 14th minute with a goal from Tori Soutuyo, assisted by Natalie Howard and Melina Hamm.
Chattanooga responded swiftly.
Caroline Richvalsky netted her third goal of the season in the 28th minute off a setup from
Paige Thomas. Thomas chased the ball into the corner and fired a cross into the box at the net and Richvalsky rose above her defender for a header that hit off the far post to tie it up 1-1.
Just before halftime, Thomas added a goal of her own in the 42nd minute, assisted by
Emma Reeves, giving the Mocs a 2–1 lead heading into the break. Reeves fed the ball over to Thomas just past midfield who picked it up on the run. She fired off a shot into the back of the net for the go ahead goal.
The Golden Eagles leveled the score in the 62nd minute with an unassisted goal from Howard.
Chattanooga had many chances in the second half thwarted by the Golden Eagles. Thomas fed another pass into the box for Richvalsky that was saved by keeper Maggie Conrad.
Caroline Ekern played all 90 minutes in goal and tallied four saves. Richvalsky had five shots, Thomas recorded four and
EG Dillard notched three, including one that hit off the cross bar late in the match.
Chattanooga returns home to host North Alabama at Finley Stadium Sunday, Sept. 7 at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free.
