Postgame Quotes
vs. Wofford – January 8 – McKenzie Arena

Coach Deandra Schirmer, 2nd Season
Opening Statement:
"I could not be more proud of our group. The relentlessness of this team being able to hold a very, very talented team to 42 points. Hold some very talented players under their average. I was just very, very happy for their hard work to pay off and for them to see the rewards of hey, we are moving in the right direction."

On if there were indications in practices leading up to this performance:
"We talk about how it starts with practice. We've been practicing and practicing and practicing. It might have been yesterday that I said, 'I know we're ready for these conference games because of the way that we've been practicing'. We've had an extended period which sometimes athletes can get unfocused because they don't have a game for a while to look forward to. The leaders in that locker room LED that effort piece in practice. I think when you fully buy in and give everything you have and you don't care who gets the credit, that's such a huge, huge asset."

On meeting the level of competition:
"I think tonight you saw we were fighting for every single inch. When you start playing like that consistently, then you see that consistency happen in big games as well. And this was a huge game. I think Wofford is very, very talented, and I think they're going to be challenging (at the top of the league) throughout the season."

Khalifa Ford, Sr.-G
On the road back from injury & finding her stride:
"It took a minute to mentally get myself there. Those were hard days in the week leading up to the anniversary of my ACL tear. It was a hard week for me mentally. After that, it was kind of like baby steps still, but also like slowly…just like a flower just kind of budding. That's what I think of; it was kind of blossoming into to where I'm at now."

Frode Flos van der Schans, R-Jr.-C
On the defensive effort in the post on Queen Ikhiuwu:
"Going into the game, we knew that was their leading scorer. One of our team folks actually keeps a stat for under average, so we were very focused on keeping away her right hand and making sure that we talk a lot on the ball screen so we can help the whole team and just contain without fouling."
