CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Lydia Ledford, a future member of the Chattanooga Women's Basketball program, who is set to join the team next season, was named a 2026 McDonald's All-American nominee for the East team.Â
She is one of 392 women across the country who were named a nominee for the prestigious McDonald's All-American game set for March 31 in Glendale, Arizona.Â
Ledford is a 5-11 guard from Buford, Georgia, and Buford High School. She has helped lead Buford to three Region Championships and has been awarded All-State honors. According to 24/7 Sports, Ledford is the No. 86-ranked player in the country in her class and the No. 4 player from Georgia.Â
Ledford is one of three high school players that Head Coach Deandra Schirmer has recruited for the class of 2026.Â
"These awards showcase how dominant she has been at the high school level, but the exciting thing for us is that she is just getting started. She is a proven winner, and she will add a championship edge to our team with how competitive she is." Schirmer said in November during the early signing period.
Ledford's senior season has been exciting so far, as Buford is 20-1 on the year and amongst the top teams in the state of Georgia across all classifications.Â
