CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The UTC Women's Basketball team will continue its 2025-26 season, as it was selected to compete in the Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT). Chattanooga's first-round opponent in the 32-team event is North Dakota State on Thursday, March 19, in Fargo. The Bison hold the No. 1 seed in Chattanooga's portion of the bracket. Tip-off is to be determined, while the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
This is the first time that Chattanooga has been selected to the WBIT, which is in its third year of existence. It is the fourth year in a row that the Mocs have been selected for postseason competition: 2023 NCAA Tournament, 2024 NCAA Tournament, 2025 WNIT, 2026 WBIT.Â
Chattanooga automatically qualified for the WBIT after winning the SoCon Regular Season Championship and earning the No. 1 seed in SoCon Tournament, before falling in the Championship.Â
"This is a great opportunity for our team to play postseason basketball. Whenever we get a chance to compete, we are going to take advantage of that," said Head Coach
Deandra Schirmer.
If Chattanooga defeats North Dakota State on Thursday, it will play the winner of No. 4 Columbia and St. John's on Sunday. The WBIT Final Four and Championship Game are in Wichita, Kansas, this year on March 30 and April 1. You can access the full bracket
