GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 15, 2026) — Make it nine. The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team earned its ninth-straight victory after posting a hard-fought 5-2 victory over UNCG in its Southern Conference opener on Sunday afternoon at the UNCG Tennis Courts in Greensboro, N.C.

"It took all we had today," said head coach Chad Camper following the match. "This team needs all nine women locked in and that's exactly what we did today."
 
Team Notables

• Chattanooga improves to 11-1 on the season and 1-0 in SoCon play... UNCG is now 1-12 overall and 0-2 in SoCon action.
• The victory marked Chattanooga's ninth-straight win... the 11-1 start ties the best start to a single season since an 11-1 start in 2023.
• Chattanooga's nine-match win streak surpasses 2023's eight-match streak its longest since eight-straight during the same 2023 season.

In doubles, UNCG kicked things off with a 6-3 win on court No. 2 doubles before UTC's Jordan Fenton and Ella Mancuso responded with a 7-5 win over Kayley Bushnell and Ivet Sala-Sanchez at No. 3. The decisive point came at No. 1 where Rufaro Magarira and Savannah Presson edged past Sophia Cedeno and Lauren Thomson, 7-6, in  a tiebreak situation.
 
In singles, UTC capitalized on the momentum by starting with a win at No. 1 as Magarira defeated Cedeno, 6-2, 7-5. Pedretti followed with a straight-set victory at No. 3 (7-5, 6-3) over Thomson before UNCG's Bushnell cut into the lead with a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 5 against Fenton.
 
Zara Burns notched the Mocs match-clinching point with a three-set win at No. 4 (3-6, 6-2, 6-1) against Sala-Sanchez. UNCG added a point at No. 6 when Somoano overcame Mancuso (3-6, 6-2, 6-2) before Presson finished off the dual with a hard-fought victory over Sara Kostic at No. 2 (2-6, 6-4, 10-7).
