Women’s Tennis Hosts Western Carolina & ETSU in Key SoCon Action

The Chattanooga Mocs women’s tennis team will host the Catamounts and Bucs during crucial mid-season conference action.

CHATTANOOGA (March 25, 2026) – Looking to remain atop the league standings, the Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team gets set for a crucial weekend of Southern Conference home action as the squad hosts Western Carolina on Thursday and in-state rival ETSU on Saturday, both held outdoors at the UTC Tennis Center.
 
First service for Thursday's SoCon match against the Catamounts is set for 2 p.m. (ET) while Saturday's contest against the Bucs is set for an early 10 a.m. (ET) start. Both matches will feature both live scoring and video.

- Chattanooga (13-2, 2-0 SoCon) is coming off consecutive sweeps last week which included a 7-0 shutout over SoCon foe Wofford and a 4-0 non-conference road win at Alabama A&M.
- The Mocs sit at 2-0 inside SoCon play this season… one of four unbeaten teams heading into the weekend (Furman, ETSU 3-0; UTC, Samford 2-0).
- Chattanooga's singles play in dual action has been dominate… the team is a combined 61-20 (75.3%) in 81 total singles results over the 15 matches… Rufaro Magarira leads the team in wins and sits at 12-1 (4-0 at No. 1; 8-1 at No. 2)… Addison Iacono is 9-1 all on court No. 1.
 
Western Carolina Notables
- Western Carolina (2-13, 0-3 SoCon) enters the weekend looking to snap a five-match skid… Catamounts are coming off recent SoCon losses to Furman (L, 0-6) and Samford (L, 0-4 – via forfeit) last week.
- The Catamounts trail the all-time series against Chattanooga (UTC leads 38-4) ahead of the upcoming 43rd meeting… however, WCU has won the previous two meetings… all four wins have come in the last seven meetings dating back to the team's first-ever win over UTC in 2019.
 
ETSU Notables
- ETSU (10-5, 3-0 SoCon) is currently on a rare three-match skid heading into the team's first match of the weekend on Thursday at Mercer… the Bucs have been featured in the ITA National Rankings multiple times this season with the latest coming on March 10 (No. 75).
- The three-match slide for ETSU directly followed a nine-match winning streak that featured three wins over SoCon opponents… nine-match streak also featured wins over No. 69 Liberty (W, 4-3), Memphis (W, 4-2) and Virginia Tech (W, 4-3).
- ETSU has won its last six over UTC in the series history… 10 of the last 11 and 11 of the last 13… last defeat to UTC in the Scenic City came back on March 3, 2018 (L, 3-4).
