CHATTANOOGA (April 7, 2026) – The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team is set to host Southern Conference foe Mercer in its regular season home finale on Wednesday afternoon at the UTC Tennis Center on campus. First service against the Bears is set for 2 p.m. (ET).

- Chattanooga (14-4, 3-2 SoCon) aims to bounce back from consecutive SoCon defeats to perennial powers ETSU (L, 0-7) and No. 72 Furman (L, 3-4)… the Mocs sit alone in third place in the league standings entering the week.
- With a win, Chattanooga would lock up a top four seed in next week's SoCon Tournament held at nearby Champions Club… Furman and ETSU both lead with 6-0 marks ahead of their de facto regular season title match on Saturday.
- Chattanooga also looks to snap a four-match slide in its series history against Mercer this week… 20th all-time meeting between the two programs… Bears have won the last four after UTC won 14 of the first 15 all-time meetings.
- Sophomore Rufaro Magarira has played to a 14-2 record in singles play this spring… 4-0 at No. 1 and 10-2 at No. 2… 4-1 in SoCon play… one of four Mocs with 11+ singles wins this season (Jordan Fenton, Emma Pedretti, Savannah Presson all with 11).
 
Mercer Notables
- Mercer (8-10, 1-3 SoCon) snapped a six-match skid with a clean 7-0 sweep over Western Carolina last Thursday… the Bears started its campaign 6-2 before a tough mix of non-conference and league battles consumed the slate.
- Mercer has featured impressive doubles play this spring… 27-20 (.574) mark in dual formats… 10-2 record on court No. 1 from the duo of Ines Homberg Fernandez and Marina de Diego Quinones.
- Mercer has won its last four matches against Chattanooga… back-to-back narrow 4-3 victories… a 4-3 win in April 2024 is the lone true road victory in the series for the Bears… added a 4-1 neutral site win in the 2023 SoCon Tournament at Champions Club in town.
