Overview
The Chattanooga Mocs named Annie Schmidt as the third head coach in the women's golf program's 19-year history on Tuesday afternoon. She comes to the Scenic City from the University of Virginia where she served as assistant coach.
It is the first head coaching position for the Charlotte native. She played collegiately at Richmond before working as an assistant at Denison and Denver prior to joining the Cavaliers in 2023. Schmidt helped all three programs to NCAA Tournament appearances while also playing in three during her Spiders career.
Breakdown
- Seven years coaching experience as an assistant coach at Virginia (3), Denver (2) and Denison (2). All four programs impacted won conference titles and/or advanced to the NCAA Championships over the last six years.
- Helped UVa to three NCAA Tournament appearances reaching the finals in each campaign while qualifying for match play in 2025.
- Contributed to two top 10 recruiting classes with the Cavaliers.
- Helped the Pioneers to two Summit League team and individual titles. That included two trips to the NCAA Regionals.
- Denver registered eight all-conference performers in two seasons along with two SL Golfers of the Year and one Newcomer of the Year.
- Coached both men and women at Denison where both programs won NCAC Championships in 2021. Also coached individual NCAC winners for both.
- The Big Red had the NCAC Player of the Year one season, four men reach All-America honors and two females claiming All-Region.
- The former Annie Collom played collegiately at Richmond. She was All-Patriot League all four years leading the Spiders to three straight PL titles (2016-18) qualifying for NCAA Regionals in those three seasons.
