Overview
Happy New Year! The 2026 Chattanooga Mocs football season officially starts today, Wednesday, July 29, with the beginning of fall camp. It's year No. 119 overall for the program, but a special 50th season of NCAA Division I and Southern Conference competition.
 
The Mocs are picked fifth in the league preseason poll with seven selected to the all-conference squad. Regardless of outside thoughts, the Mocs are positioned to once again compete week-in, week-out for regional and national accolades.
 
Fall camp is July 29-August 23 before game week arrives. The Mocs open on the road on a Thursday night, August 27, in Carrollton, Ga., at West Georgia.

"The biggest thing I'm looking forward to is being out there with this group, It's the same way with every fall camp in that you're trying to figure out what you got, how close we can get them and how good we can make them before we get started. This group has allowed us to push them and coach them and get them stronger and faster. "When you graduate guys and then you lose another class basically in the same year, it makes it awful tough to replace them and get everything right. It was a charge and a challenge. We had to figure out before last season was over how we needed to move forward, so I think we did a good job with that. I think we've done a good job of continuing to bring in high school players and then mix in the transfers. With school starting later (spring semester), some other things helped us manage those situations better, but this group's a lot further ahead than that group was last year." – Coach Wright

Notes

• 13 starters and 59 letter winners return from last season's roster. That's quite an uptick to five and 38; respectively, in 2025.
• The program went through a rigorous workout program to start the new year while pushing back the start of spring ball to affect major changes. Check out the story here.
• Of the 46 newcomers, 23 are directly from the high school ranks with another 23 via the transfer portal.
• The offense's five returning starters look to build on a quietly effective 2025. The Mocs scored 46 touchdowns which rank 6th in the program record book.
• The defense is buoyed by the return of two All-SoCon performers in seniors Zion Rutledge (LB) and Kam Baah-Slay (S). Twenty-eight of the 47 letter winners on that side of the ball are back with an infusion of talent at all three levels.
