CHATTANOOGA (August 12, 2026) – The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team and head coach Chad Camper will welcome back Caitlyn Merzbacher as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2026-27 campaign as the program finalized its staff movements Wednesday afternoon.
 
Merzbacher will step into the assistant role last served by UTC women's tennis alum Alice Hall ('25) during the past 2025-26 season. Hall helped guide the program to its most wins since 2015 after the team finished with an impressive 17-5 overall record and 5-2 mark in SoCon play.
 
Hall competed for the Mocs in her final two seasons as a student-athlete (2023-25) and posted a 42-33 overall record between singles and doubles play. Hall exits the program to pursue professional endeavors following her outstanding academic achievements at UTC.
 
"We had a blast having Alice Hall on our coaching staff and we want to thank her for her time as our assistant coach. We are incredibly proud and excited for her future," said coach Camper.  
 
Merzbacher, the daughter of men's tennis head coach Chuck Merzbacher, previously aided Camper and his program as an assistant across multiple seasons from 2021-25. A collegiate product out of Minnesota, Merzbacher enjoyed a very successful career with the Golden Gophers from 2015-2019, serving as a team co-captain while also earning the 2018-19 B1G Sportsmanship Award.
 
"Having Caitlyn [Merzbacher] back on staff is trilling," added Camper. "After meeting a few times and with her experience in collegiate tennis, having Caitlyn come back to Chattanooga is a huge asset."
 
Chattanooga, who is coming off an impressive 2026 spring season, welcomes back all nine members from last year's squad including All-Southern Conference performers Addison Iacono and Rufaro Magarira. The program also added Pepperdine transfer Liam Oved, who arrives in the Scenic City following a highly successful juniors career.
 
The complete 2026-27 season schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
