Soccer Rolls Past Austin Peay 3-0 Sunday Afternoon

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga women's soccer team scored twice in the opening 26 minutes and added another in the second half en route to a 3-0 victory over Austin Peay Sunday afternoon at Finley Stadium.
 
With the win, the Mocs improved to 2-1-1 on the season while Austin Peay dropped to 0-4-0.
 
Chattanooga controlled play throughout the afternoon, outshooting the Governors 23-1 and holding Austin Peay without a shot on goal. The Mocs also held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks and recorded their second shutout of the season.
 
The Mocs struck early in the seventh minute. Quinn Johnson opened the scoring at the 6:15 mark, finishing a setup from Carmya Mastrangelo and Paige Thomas for her team-leading third goal of the year.
 
Chattanooga doubled its lead just under 20 minutes later. EG Dillard netted her first goal of the season in the 26th minute, converting an assist from Landry Olson to put the Mocs in front 2-0.
 
The Mocs continued to apply pressure after the break and found the final goal in the 61st minute. Paige Thomas scored her first goal of the year with an unassisted finish, extending the lead to 3-0 and putting the match out of reach.
 
Thomas paced the Chattanooga attack with a match-high seven shots, while Johnson added six shots, including three on target. Dillard finished with three attempts and a goal.
 
Austin Peay goalkeeper Megan Waskiewicz kept the match close early with four saves before halftime and finished with four stops. Mason Riley added two saves in relief.
 
Chattanooga goalkeeper Lilly Kate Varino earned the shutout, facing just one Austin Peay shot during her 90 minutes of action.
