CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Chattanooga cross country and track and field head coach announced the addition of Eddie Kurjak to the 2026-27 staff.
Â
"Coach Eddie brings a wealth of knowledge to our jumps/sprints group," Picucci said. "I am excited to see where he can take this group in the future."
Â
Kurjak comes to Chattanooga from the University of Georgia where he served as a volunteer assistant coach for his alma mater. He worked with the coaching staff at practices, primarily with the jumps group and collaborated with the coaching staff to develop training plans. He worked directly with the student-athletes providing technical feedback on all aspects of jumps.
Â
"While I started my journey with track and field when I was about five, it has been an integral part of my life for the past six years or so," Kurjak said. "I'm thankful for the opportunity to continue professionally. Chattanooga feels like the right place for me."
Â
He also has experience as a private coach providing one-on-one coaching to high school track and field athletes.
Â
"As a three-time All-America, Coach Eddie knows what it takes to be successful at the highest levels of our sport," Picucci stated.
Â
Kurjak earned his BA in Applied Mathematics from the University of Georgia where he was an NCAA All-American in the high jump. He earned a spot on the SEC Honor Roll twice. His Capstone project at UGA involved developing a step frequency algorithm relating athlete height to optimal stride patterns to use in the high jump and triple jump.
Â
Prior to transferring to Georgia, Kurjak attended Colorado Mesa University where he was an NCAA All-American in the high jump and the triple jump.
Â
He is a 2026 graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics.
