Fall Preview: Women’s Tennis Showcases a Familiar Look in 2026-27

The Chattanooga Mocs women’s tennis program enters the fall season coming off an extremely successful and historic spring campaign while retaining all nine players on its roster.
CHATTANOOGA (September 2, 2026) – The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis program and head coach Chad Camper will turn the page towards the 2026-27 season with the upcoming fall slate just weeks away, aiming to build on a very successful spring season in 2026.
Chattanooga finished with a 17-5 overall record in 2026, its most victories in a season since 2015, and reached the Southern Conference semifinal stage for the first time since 2022. The squad went 5-2 in regular season SoCon action and notched a third-place finish, its best since the 2016 season.
Success of that nature isn't easy to retain year-over-year in the current landscape of college athletics. Whether that's influenced by the transfer portal or traditional graduation and eligibility-exhaustion, roster turnover each season is all but inevitable.
But in this case, Camper and the team return all nine players from last year's roster and adds highly touted Pepperdine transfer Liam Oved, who initially entered the collegiate landscape ranked No. 61 in the ITF World Juniors Rankings. While expectations may be high, the offseason work hasn't stopped.
Six different Mocs posted 10 or more singles wins during the spring season including Magarira (17), then-freshman Jordan Fenton (14), then-junior Emma Pedretti (13), Iacono (12), then-sophomore Savannah Presson (11) and then-sophomore Zara Burns (10).
Chattanooga's fall season kicks off in a few weekends at the Austin Peay Fall Invite in Clarksville, Tenn., held September 25-27. The Mocs will then host the annual UTC Steve Baras Fall Invite the following weekend on October 2-4 at the UTC Tennis Center.

Last season, the Mocs were led by a pair of first-year standouts in Addison Iacono and Rufaro Magarira, who both earned All-SoCon status in singles and spots on the SoCon All-Freshman team. The duo played primarily at the No. 1 and No. 2 slots, respectively, and combined for a 29-7 singles record during the dual season."The team did a great job competing over the summer after last year's season.
