2015-16 • JUNIOR SEASON:  Nationally ranked at heavyweight throughout the season ... No. 13 seed at the NCAA Tournament ... 23-7 overall record ... 12-1 in duals ... runner up at the SoCon Tournament and the Wolfpack Open ... placed fourth at the Southern Scuffle ... pinned Virginia's Patrick Gillen to cap a huge comeback in a 19-18 win at the 13th-ranked Cavaliers ... made the Dean's List and the A.D. Honor Roll both semesters ... had a 4.0 in the spring ... CoSIDA Academic All-District ... Academic All-NWCA ... 2014-15 • SOPHOMORE SEASON:  Moved up to heavyweight where he earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships with a 30-11 overall record and a second place finish at the SoCon Championships ... fifth place finish at the Hokie Open ... scored a 12-11 win over Oklahoma's No. 11 Ross Larson to seal the team win at the NWCA National Duals ... three-time SoCon Wrestler of the Week ... two-time SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week ... made the Dean's List both semesters ... Academic All-SoCon ... Academic All-NWCA ... made the SoCon Honor Roll and earned the SoCon Commissioner's Medal.

2013-14 • FRESHMAN SEASON:  Went 4-4 overall … 2-3 in duals and 2-1 in tournaments … second place finish at the Appalachian Open … made the Dean’s List both semesters … named to the SoCon Honor Roll and earned the SoCon Commissioner’s Medal.

2012-13 • REDSHIRT SEASON:  Sat out the year as a redshirt ... made the Dean’s List both semesters ... named to the SoCon Honor Roll ... earned the SoCon Commissioner’s Medal.

PRIOR TO UTC:  State champion at 195 pounds as a senior with a 50-0 record at Jefferson City Senior High School in Jefferson City, Mo. ... led the team in pins with 44 ... pinned his opponent in every contested match as a senior ... went 50-1 as a junior, finishing second at the state championships for the second year in a row ... set new team records for career wins (182) and pins (126) ... wrestled for head coach Phil Cagle ... all-state linebacker and team captain on the football team as a senior ... member of the National Honor Society.

PERSONAL:  Full name is Jared Roy Johnson ... son of Steve and Tina Johnson ... has an older brother, Steve, and two older sisters, Christy and Marcy ... father played football and wrestled at Southeast Missouri State (1967-71) ... also recruited by Missouri and Oklahoma ... graduated with honors with a degree in Chemical Engineering in May 2016 and is currently working on an MBA.
