1996 UTC Athletics Hall of Fame

Lance Fulse – Men’s Basketball – 1985-88
Lance Fulse was a three-time member of the All-Southern Conference men’s basketball team from 1985-88.  He is fifth in scoring in the Mocs’ record book with 1,325 career points.  He graduated as the school’s leading rebounder with 747 career boards and is still second on the all-time list.

Fulse posted 14.9 ppg to lead the Mocs in scoring in 1986-87.  He also led the team in rebounding in 1986-87 (8.2) and 1987-88 (9.1).  His 300 boards in 1987-88 was the school record until Nicchaeus Doaks surpassed it (302) in 2008-09. He shot 77.4% (82-106) from the FT line to lead the team in 1985-86.

Fulse led the Mocs to SoCon regular season titles in 1985 and 1986, and the SoCon Tournament Championship in 1988.  UTC participated in the Postseason NIT three times and the NCAA Tournament in 1988.  He was a second team All-SoCon pick in 1986 and made the first team in 1987 and 1988.  He also made the SoCon All-Tournament team in 1988.

Chris McClure – Women’s Basketball – 1982-85
Chris McClure was the 1985 Women’s Basketball Southern Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player.  She led the Mocs to back-to-back SoCon Regular Season titles in 1984 and 1985, and had an outstanding career from 1982-85.

McClure average 9.0 ppg and 5.9 rpg in 1984 when UTC advanced to the finals of the WNIT.  She posted 9.1 ppg and 6.1 rpg as a senior in 1985.

Angelo Napolitano – Football – 1966-68
Angelo “Nubby” Napolitano was an All-American tight end for the Mocs from 1966-68.  He set the school record with 118 catches and 1,623 receiving yards from 1966-68, a time when passing offenses were rare.

Napolitano’s 13.8 yards-per-catch still ranked No. 10 on UTC’s all-time list.  He had school records for catches and yards with 11 receptions for 191 yards in a 21-14 win over NE Louisiana on Oct. 7, 1967.  That is still No. 9 on the Mocs’ single-game receiving yards list.

Napolitano led the Mocs in receiving yards and receptions for three years in a row.  He is the only person in school history to accomplish that feat.  His 634 yards in 1967 and 42 catches in 1968 were school records at the time.

Sue McCulloch – Women’s Tennis – 1982-85
Sue McCulloch Webb was a three-time All-American and a member of the Mocs’ three NCAA Division II National Championship Team from 1982-85.  She teamed with Christine Picher to win the 1984 NCAA Division II Doubles Championship.

McCulloch was the 1985 SoCon Player of the Year when she posted a 20-6 singles record and an 18-4 mark in doubles.  She won the No. 1 SoCon singles tournament in 1984, along with the No. 2 doubles crown with Picher.  McCulloch and Picher also won No. 1 doubles in 1985.
