Provost’s Student Attendance Challenge

Provost’s Student Attendance Challenge

Starting January 12, UTC students have even more reason to pack McKenzie Arena and rally behind the Mocs. The Provost’s Student Attendance Challenge launches this spring, offering scholarships of up to $1,000 at every home men’s and women’s basketball game—simply for showing up and showing out.

The challenge is designed to boost student spirit, elevate the game-day atmosphere and reward committed Mocs fans. Here’s how it works:

Men’s Basketball
  • 500+ students in attendance: One student will be randomly selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship.
  • Fewer than 500 students in attendance: One student will be randomly selected to receive a $500 scholarship.
Women’s Basketball
  • 200+ students in attendance: One student will be randomly selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship.
  • Fewer than 200 students in attendance: One student will be randomly selected to receive a $500 scholarship.
To qualify, students must be currently enrolled at UTC and secure their ticket online through GoMocs.com. Securing a ticket online is required for two reasons:
  1. It counts toward the attendance threshold that determines the scholarship amount.
  2. It ensures each student is entered into the drawing to receive the scholarship.
At halftime of each game, one lucky student in attendance will be selected from the official ticket list, and UTC Provost Dr. Jerold Hale will take the court for a big-check presentation to announce the winner.

“This challenge celebrates the energy our students bring to McKenzie Arena,” Hale said. “Their enthusiasm helps fuel our teams, and now we get to fuel that Mocs spirit right back.”

Important Disclosures for Student Participants
Students selected for scholarship awards will be notified that:
  • Other Financial Aid, including loans, may be adjusted as a result of receiving this award.
  • If the winning student has an outstanding balance, including outstanding fees or parking citations, the award will first be applied to reduce any existing balance owed before being paid out.
  • Scholarships will be awarded for the Spring 2026 semester, unless there is no room in a students financial aid package and then it will be awarded in the next semester the student is enrolled.
So Mocs fans, get ready. Bring your friends, bring the noise and help us turn McKenzie Arena into the loudest home-court advantage in the SoCon. The more students who show up, the bigger the prize—and it could be yours.
