Building Policies

 

Security and Safety Procedures

Creating a safe and secure environment for all of our guests and employees is a high priority at McKenzie Arena. We take the necessary measures to provide an environment where our guests can have a good time without concern. Arena security personnel reserve the right to determine the method of security checks as deemed necessary including the use of metal detectors and handheld wand scanners, the search of jackets, clothing and other items.

What you are not permitted to carry into the Arena:

Prohibited Items:

  • No video recorders, audio recorders, or other similar electronic devices.
  • No noise makers (airhorns, cowbells, etc.)
  • No laser pointers, weapons, or knives of any size. 
  • No backpacks, large bags, purses or totes, duffel and drawstring bags or fanny packs. NO sealed packages of any kind (including gifts for performers).
  • No balloons that obstruct other patrons view of the event.
  • No bottles, cans, coolers.
  • No outside food or beverages. Exceptions are made for medical reasons, baby food and reasonable children’s snacks (crackers, raisins, juice boxes, etc.)

What you are permitted to carry into the Arena:        

A clear bag policy is in effect to enhance the safety of spectators visiting The McKenzie Arena and has been implemented for All events to include Arena and sporting events. 

Fans are allowed to bring in one plastic, vinyl, or PUC clear bag that does not exceed 12"x 6"x 12" to Arena events. The list below outline the policy for approved items.

  • Storage bag: One gallon re-sealable clear plastic freezer bag.
  • Small clutch bag: No larger than 4.5"x 6.5" with or without a handle/strap.
  • Small diaper bag: Must be accompanied by a child and will be inspected by security.     
  • Purses are permitted and will be inspected by security.
  • Binoculars and cell phones are permitted and subject to security inspection.
  • Banners/Signs. (Banners and signs may not be hung anywhere inside the venue unless authorized by the Arena. Unauthorized signs or banners must be returned to your vehicle.

Re-Entry

The Arena has a no re-entry policy. Once you leave the building during an event, you will not be permitted to return without purchase of another ticket.

First Aid

A first aid station staffed with certified Paramedics is located on the Main Concourse near Section 221 and Gate 1. A paramedic unit from the Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services is on site for all events. If you are in need of medical attention please notify a Arena Guest Services Representative. The Arena staff is trained to call for immediate response and assistance in emergency situations.

Service Animals

Trained guide dogs or service animals assisting guests are welcome inside the Arena. All service animals must remain on a leash or in a harness at all times.

Smoking Policy

The McKenzie Arena is a smoke-free facility. Smoking is not permitted on the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga campus.  

Ticket Policy

A valid ticket for the event is required for admittance to Arena unless otherwise indicated. Children two years or older must have a ticket for admittance unless otherwise stated. Children under two must sit on a parent’s lap.

Solicitation/Vending

The McKenzie Arena does not permit unauthorized soliciting or collecting of contributions, vending, distribution of fliers or other promotional/advertising materials on the premises.

Lost and Found

Please report any lost items to our Guest Services Desk located on the Concourse near Section 204. After all shows, lost and found items will be turned in to UTC police dept. to be reached @ 423-425-4357.

Camera Policy

The McKenzie Arena's camera policy is determined by each show and therefore varies from event to event. Typically, still cameras are permitted while video cameras are never permitted.

Will Call

Will Call is located at Gate 1 of McKenzie Arena for most events, and usually opens 90 minutes prior to the event. A valid ID must be shown to receive your ticket(s). Will Call usually closes at halftime for basketball games and approximately one (1) hour after the start of an event, concert or show.

Player Pass

Player Pass is located at Gate 1 of McKenzie Arena for all home basketball games. Tickets can begin being picked up one (1) hour prior to tip-off. A valid ID must be shown to receive your ticket.

Student Ticket Information

All currently enrolled students receive free admission to home Mocs events during the regular season. If the Mocs are hosting a postseason event for the Southern Conference or NCAA, students may be charged a small fee for those ticketed events. That is decided on a case-by-case basis for each postseason event. Students may purchase one (1) additional guest ticket at a student discounted rate. 

Chattanooga Athletics has implemented an online ticket reservation process for students for select sports. This allows the athletics department to better prepare for anticipated crowds and provide the best game day experience for all fans. Students need to reserve tickets for any home football, men's basketball, and women's basketball games they choose to attend. To learn more about the student ticketing process, please

Students do not need to reserve tickets for any other sports. When attending any other home regular season event, please make sure to have your Mocs ID with you.

How do I get to the Arena?

The Arena is located at the corner of East 4th Street and Mocs Alumni Drive on the campus of The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The physical address is 720 East Fourth Street. Take Highway 27 to the 4th St. exit (#1C). Proceed thru 7 traffic lights and you will see the McKenzie on your right. Turn right at the next light (Mocs Alumni Drive) and a parking garage (Lot 31) will be on your left.

Where do I park?

There are several pay lots surrounding the Arena, as well as a 500 car parking deck located across the street. If you do not want to pay to park, there is some street parking relatively close to the building, however, cars parked in No Parking Zones or otherwise parked illegally will be towed by city police at owner's expense.

Limited handicap parking is available at Lot #20 (next to Gate 3). Must display current handicap decal or license plate for admittance.

For show personnel, certain lots are reserved for show techs and performer's buses. These do vary from show to show so be sure to check with our technical staff (call  (423) 425-4746 for your needs.)

What about wheelchair access?

When purchasing your tickets, please tell the ticket agent that you will need handicap seating. There are limited handicap seats on the Arena concourse which are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Floor seats are available for most concerts. Only patrons with tickets noting these locations will be allowed access. All restrooms are wheelchair accessible.

If you are in a wheelchair, or have difficulty walking steps, you will need to enter at Gate 3. Limited handicap parking is available in Lot #20 (adjacent to this gate) for vehicles displaying handicap decals or plates.

What time do doors open?

Doors normally open one hour prior to the event. 

Are cameras allowed?

In most instances, still cameras are allowed. Professional equipment, including zoom lenses and tripods, are prohibited. Video or recording equipment are also prohibited. Please call our Box Office (266-6627) regarding individual events.

Is there food at the Arena?

Yes! We typically have six permanent concession stands and the ability to provide several portable stands during events. Food available includes hot dogs, pizza, nachos, popcorn, ice cream and candy. Coca-Cola products, as well as bottled water, are also available for purchase. Outside food and beverages are not allowed in the building, but exceptions are made for medical reasons and baby food only.

Is there beer at the Arena?

Beer is served at most McKenzie Arena events, concerts and shows, including Chattanooga Mocs home contests. 

Babysitter tips?

Please be sure to inform your baby-sitter of your seat location (Section, Row, Seat). In case of an emergency, they may call our Arena Office at 423-425-4706 and an usher will happy to assist in locating you.
