Andy Meyer was named the Chattanooga cross country and track and field head coach on September 7, 2016.
2024 Cross Country
Meyer coached graduate student Lesley Boyd in her NCAA National Championship race. Boyd qualified for the nationals after finishing 10th overall at the NCAA South Region Championship and earning an automatic bid to the final. Boyd finished 121st overall. She was the ninth UTC women's qualifier and posted the sixth-best finish by a Mocs runner.
Boyd led the women to a 17th place finish. The men were 22nd led by sophomore Jack Martin.
Meyer coached three Mocs to all-conference honors at the league championships and three all-freshman. Lesley Boyd earned First Team honors and Maddie Wheatcroft was named to the Second Team. Jack was named to the men's First Team. Ian Etheridge, Derek Mitchell and Ellie von Herrmann were named to the SoCon All-Freshman Team.
Lesley Boyd was named SoCon Runner-of-the-Week twice with a 10th place finish at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Ala., and ninth the Live in Lou XC Championships in Louisville, Ky. The Mocs ran in the top tier race at Louisville, leading UTC to ninth overall.
2023-24
Lesley Boyd was named an Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators (formerly College Sports Information Directors of Americs COSIDA).Â
Michaela Dabney and Kennedy Reynolds earned All-Freshman honors at the SoCon Outdoor Championships in the 1500 meter race.
Lesley Boyd earned all-region honors at the NCAA South Region Championships, placing 22nd overall. The women were 16th and the men 17th.Â
Lesley Boyd earned all-conference honors in the SoCon Indoor Track and Field Championships in the 5000 meter race with a PR, placing second. She also earned all-conference honors with a second place finish in the 3000 meter run. Michaela Dabney was all-freshman in the 3000 meter run and Ava McGue was named All-Freshman in the high jump.
Lesley Boyd was named the SoCon Runner-of-the-Week after setting a UTC program record in the 3000 meter run at the Music City Challenge. She bested the 2006 mark set by All-American Shannon Wommack.
Maddie Wheatcroft was named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete-of-the-Week after setting a pair of PRs in the 400- and 800-meter runs and anchered the 4x400 meter relay.
Boyd earned first team all-conference honors and Maddie Wheatcroft was on the league's second team as the women finished third overall at the SoCon champoinship. Aaron Isbell and Jack Martin were each named to the men's all-conference second team and led the men to a fourth place finish. Boyd was named SoCon Runner-of-the-Week twice and was a two-time SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week.
2022-23
Jonathan Boyd earned his third straight CSC Academic All-America selection, named to the Second Team. He is a four-time CSC Academic All-District and was joined on the men's team by Jasper Wilson and Eric Mitchell. Also named to the CSC All-District Team were Imani Bryant, Emmy Davis, Lesley Green, Julianna McReynolds and Emma Russum.
Jonathan Boyd was named the Dayle May Award recipient as the senior with the highest GPA.
The women's cross country team was named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team placing sixth overall. the men boasted a team GPA of 3.2. The women's track and field team was 17th in the USTFCCCA All-Academic rankings and the men were 31st.
The men's cross country team placed 20th in the NCAA South Region Championships led by Aaron Isbell. The Mocs were sxith overall at the Southern Conference Cross Country Championships paced by Isbell and Johnathan Boyd with Top 30 finishes.
The women's cross country team placed 26th at the NCAA South Region Championships led by Emma Russum. The Mocs finished fifth at the Southern Conference Cross Country Championships paced by Russum. Maddie Wheatcroft and Leah Boyd were named to the All-Freshman Team. All three finished in the Top 30.
The women's indoor track and field team placed eighth. Lesley Green earned all-conference in the 3000 and 5000 meter runs, placing third in each. Delany Mulich (800m) and Maddie Wheatcroft (Mile) were both named to the All-Freshman Teams.
Lesley Green claimed the women's 10,000 meter title in the Southern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships and ranked 54th in the nation in that event. She was also named All-Conference with a third place finish in the 5,000 meter run. Maddie Wheatcroft and Leah Boyd each earned All-Freshman Team honors in the 1500 meter. Lesley Green was named the SoCon Track Athlete of the Week after placing third in the 10,000 meter at the Raleigh Relays.
2021-22
Jonathan Boyd is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American, earning the honor in each of the last two seasons as a Third Team member. He is a three-time CoSIDA All-District and was joined in 2021-22 by Emma Russum.
In 2021-22, the Mocs Women's Track and Field team earned All-Academic Team honors, placing sixth in the GPA rankings. The men's cross country team ranked eighth and the women were 12th with both earning All-Academic Team honors.
The cross country season saw Aaron Isbell and Emma Russum named to the Southern Conference All-Freshman Team. The women placed fifth at the league championships led by Lesley Green while the men were eighth behind Jonathan Boyd. The men placed 21st at the NCAA South Region while the women did not have a team score.
Lesley Green was named the SoCon Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week after finishing second in the 5000 meter run at the Samford Invitational at the season's start. She posted a personal best in the event and had the top time in the league.
Lesley Green earned All-Conference honors with a third place finish in the 10,000 meter run at the SoCon Outdoor Track and Field Championships, her second straight. Gracie Morse was named to the All-Freshman Team in the long jump.
The women placed eighth overall at the SoCon Outdoor Championships and eighth at the SoCon Indoor Championships.Â
2020-21
Jonathan Boyd earned CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team honors. He was named Academic All-District for the second straight year.
The women's track and field team earned All-Academic Team honors by the USTFCCCA.
The Mocs cross country season was spread out over the fall and spring semesters due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Both teams ran in the SoCon pre-meet as the only regular season race. The men finished seventh at the SoCon Championships followed by the women's fifth place finish. Makenzie Jones was named All-Conference First Team with a fifth place finish. Seth Robinson earned All-Freshman honors for the Mocs.
Ashtyn Hagood and Emmy Davis each earned All-Freshman Team honors at the SoCon Indoor Championships. Hagood was the second freshman finisher in the Mile and Davis earned the honor in the 800-meter run. Kimbra Dunning was named to the All-Freshman Team in the 60-meter dash. The women placed seventh overall.
In the outdoor season, Lesley Green earned all-conference honors in the 10,000 meter run and was also named to the All-Freshman Team in the event. Faith Brown was named All-Freshman in the 3000-meter Steeplechase, just missing all-conference honors with a fourth place finish. The Mocs finished ninth overall at the SoCon Outdoor Championships.
2019-20
Abby Bateman received the Dayle May Award, given to the UTC senior student-athlete with the top GPA. She was named CoSIDA Academic All-American for the second time and was joined on the All-District Team by Nathan Watson and Jonathan Boyd. The women's track and field eam posted the second-highest GPA in the nation and was named an All-Academic Team by the USTFCCCA.
The men's cross country team finished sixth at the SoCon Championships led by Ryan Gebelein. The women also took sixth overall behind Makenzie Jones. Jones was named to the All-Conference Second Team while Lesley Green and Mattie Parker each earned All-Freshman Team honors. The women took 20th at the NCAA South Region Championships while the men finished 21st overall.
The Mocs placed seventh at the SoCon Indoor Championships. Madelyn Thompson earned all-freshman honors in the long jump on the first day. On Day Two, Lesley Green earned all-freshman team honors in the women's 5000 meter run.
The 2020 Outdoor Track and Field season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ty Griffin was named assistant coach.
2018-19
Abby Bateman was named a CoSIDA Academic All-American Third Team as well as Academic All-District.
Mark Britt was named the SoCon David Knight Graduate Scholarship recipient.
The women's cross country tied for the second-highest GPA in the nation and was named an All-Academic Team while the men, also named All-Academic, were sixth.
Kennedy Thomson was selected to represent her home country, Canada, in the 800 meter run at the North America Central America Caribbean Championships held in Mexico.
The women's cross country team finished Runner-Up at the SoCon Championships behind Furman. Emily Poole and Makenzie Jones earned All-Conference second team honors by placing in the Top 14. The men were without their top runner and finished eighth. The women's team climbed to 13th in the South Region rankings. At the NCAA South Region Championships, the women tied Samford for 15th while the men were 21st overall.
Kennedy Thomson set the school record in the indoor track 800 meter run at the Samford Open with a time of 2:10.73. She was named the SoCon Athlete of the Week after breaking her own school record with a time of 2:09.54 in the 800 meter run at the Emory Invitational. She was invited to run at the Raleigh Relays and once again topped her best time with a new school-record 2:08.33.
At the Indoor SoCon Championships, the Mocs Distance Medley Relay team of Ashlynd Broling, Katie Coker, Abby Bateman and Nicole Buehrle earned All-Conference honors with a third place finish. Kennedy Thomson set the school record in the 800m and the Mile at the SoCon Championships and named All-Conference in the 800 meter. She was just out of contention in the Mile placing fourth.
The Mocs placed seventh at the SoCon Indoor Track and Field Championships and ninth at the outdoor championships.
2017-18
The men's cross country team posted the No. 2 GPA in the nation and both teams were named an All-Academic Team by the USTFCCCA.
Emily Poole earned SoCon All-Conference Second Team honors at the league championships with a Top 14 finish. The men's and women's cross country teams both placed fourth at the SoCon Championships and both placed 20th overall at the NCAA South Region Championships.
Sophia Neglia earned All-Freshman honors in the 3000 meter run at the SoCon Indoor Championships. The women finished eighth at the SoCon Indoor Track and Field Championships and ninth at the Outdoor Championships.
2016-17
In 2016, the men's and women's cross country teams each finished fourth at the league championships hosted by Chattanooga at Camp Jordan. Paul Stuart and Brennan Huber each earned all-conference honors.
The women's indoor track team finished seventh at the SoCon Championships and 10th in the outdoor season.
Maddison Melchionna and Paul Stuart earned the Dayle May Award for academics as the senior student-athletes with the top GPA. Both earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors for the second straight year.

Prior to UTC, Meyer was the co-head coach of the nationally-ranked cross country and track teams at Dalton State. There he helped establish the Roadrunners program in 2013, leading both cross country squads to the NAIA Championships in just two years.

Meyer started and developed the South’s top NAIA cross country programs from ground zero at Dalton State. The Roadrunners have competed in cross country for the last three seasons and in track for two years.

During that time, the men’s cross country team ranked No. 30, No. 24 and No. 11 in the nation and begins the 2016 campaign ranked No. 15. The women’s program finished 2015 ranked No. 24 and is No. 25 in this year’s preseason polls. Collectively, the Roadrunners have won three Southern States Athletic Conference titles, three individual titles, had two earn All-American honors and four received Academic All-American recognition.Â

Meyer was named the 2015 SSAC Coach of the Year for both men's and women's cross country after each team captured the 2015 conference titles and went on to compete in the NAIA National Championships.

Dalton State also won the women's 2014 SSAC Championship during its first year of postseason eligibility, while the men's team finished a close second. He was named the SSAC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year, and the women's team and several men's runners represented Dalton State in the NAIA National Meet in Lawrence, Kan.

Meyer was a standout runner at UTC, competing for the Mocs in 1985 and 1986. He finished his undergraduate degree in Physical Therapy at the Medical College of Georgia in 1988.

After his college running days were over, he continued his running career. He finished eighth in the Atlanta Marathon in 2007 and won numerous local and regional road races while running for the Athletic Attic. He also qualified and competed in the famed Ironman Triathlon in Kona, Hawaii.
He and his wife Karen have been married for 39 years. They have three children, Hunter, A.J. and Connor. Hunter and his wife Airica have five children, Brecklyn, Tinley, Rhodes and twins Lennon and Graham.
