    Running Backs

Jay Graham joined Rodney Allison’s staff in January to coach the Mocs’ running backs.

Graham, a University of Tennessee graduate, worked as a graduate assistant coach during the 2005 season for his alma mater.  Graham concentrated his coaching efforts on the offensive side of the ball.

A former running back for the Vols from 1993-96, Graham ranks sixth on Tennessee’s career rushing list with 2,609 yards.  He scored 25 touchdowns, and his 540 career carries ranks second all-time at UT.

His 1995 season totals of 1,438 yards on 272 carries are both the second-best figures in school history.  He compiled 13 100-yard rushing games and ran for a career-best 211 yards in a win over Vanderbilt in 1995.

Upon finishing his career at Tennessee, Graham was a third-round draft pick by the National Football League’s Baltimore Ravens in 1997.  He played for the Ravens from 1997 to 1999, for the Seattle Seahawks in 2001 and for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League in 2003.

He returned to UT after six years in the professional ranks and completed his undergraduate degree in Psychology in 2004.  While working on his master’s degree in Sport Management, Graham spent 2004-05 as a graduate assistant coach, working with the Vols’ offense.

Born in Durham, N.C., he was a USA Today All-America football player in 1992 at Concord High School.  Graham is married to the former Kelly Craig.  They are the parents of a daughter, Deanne, and a son, Jason.
