Ryan Heisey joined the men’s golf program as assistant coach in August 2018. He’s the first full-time assistant in six seasons providing the Mocs with a great foundation of experience.
Heisey was most recently a volunteer assistant at his alma mater, UNC Greensboro, in 2017-18. That came after a professional career that included 41 starts over three years on the PGA TOUR’s Latin America and Mackenzie (Canada) Tours.
He had impressive amateur wins before embarking on his pro journey including winning the 2010 North Carolina Amateur. Heisey was runner-up at the 2010 North Carolina State Match Play and 2011 Rice Planters Amateur. He also had a top 5 in the 2010 Middle Atlantic Amateur.
Heisey was a four-year letter winner (2006, 2008-10) for the Spartans under current head coach Terrance Stewart. He posted one win and four top 5s over 80 collegiate rounds. The title came at the 2005 Johnny Palmer/Old North State in just his second collegiate outing. He was runner-up in the 2010 Southern Conference Championships shooting a career-best 4-under 212 in both events.
A 2010 graduate in Greensboro, he got his degree in Tourism Management. Heisey is a native of New Bern, N.C.
