Alicia completed her second year as a student assistant coach with the women's basketball staff following a productive playing career with the Mocs. She was a two-time Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Year and selected the 2016 SoCon Tournament Most Outstanding Player. Her playing career spanned four years and 130 games - second most in school history.
Alicia was the inaugural recipient of the EnVeritas Group Graduate Scholarship. She graduated in May 2016 with a degree in Social Work and in 2018 with a Masters of Social Work.
The two-year starting point guard for the Mocs is ninth at UTC for career assists and was ranked in five categories by the NCAA her final season. She graduated with Latin Honors with a 3.89 GPA and was a four-year member of UTC's Dean's List, Athletics Director's Honor Roll and was a recipient of the Southern Conference Commissioner's Medal for Academics.
Payne has logged hundreds of hours of community service throughout her collegiate career. Â She amassed more than 300 as an organizer of Fellowship of Christian Athletes camps and 400 during an unpaid internship with the Chattanooga Department of Youth & Family Development. Â There she worked with families with financial needs.
She was nominated for the NCAA Woman of the Year, recognizing a graduating female student-athlete for excellence in academics, athletics, community service and leadership.
