- Signed in February 2025

Prior to Chattanooga
- Helped Marion County to the 2024 TSSAA Class 2A State title under head coach Tim Starkey and UTC Hall of Famer Troy Boeck.
- 2-time all-region and all-state performer...member of the Chattanooga Times Free Press "Dynamite Dozen".
- Began high school career at Northwest Whitfield High School in Georgia.
- Final college choice came down to Chattanooga, Mercer and Wofford with reported offers from Air Force, Ball State, Furman, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Kennesaw State, Cornell and Yale.

Personal
- Son of Eric and Mia Mays...three older siblings, Nate, Eric Smith and Catherine Smith, and one younger, Mason.
- Nate played at football at Wake Forest while Eric competed in football at Lindsey Wilson.

"Another guy we targeted early. It really surprised us he was still available for us in February. I think coaches did a good job getting him committed. He played right up the road in Marion County, and it's always great to one that's local."
