Niko Brown is in his fourth season as an assistant with the Mocs. He joined the team as a volunteer in 2013. The Kissimmee, Fla., native is working with the upper weights and is a valued addition to the wrestling room.
Since his arrival, he has helped UTC consistently send individuals to the NCAA Tournament at 184, 197 and heavyweight. Scottie Boyking is among the team leaders in wins over the past three years and was a SoCon Champion at 197 in 2016. Jared Johnson spent most of 2016 ranked in the top-20 at heavyweight.
Brown was a two-time All-Southern Conference pick at 197 pounds. He capped off his senior season with a SoCon Championship, finishing with a 30-5 overall record. He was also 15-0 in duals in 2012-13. Brown graduated with a degree in Sociology in 2013.

2011-12 JUNIOR SEASON: SoCon Wrestler of the Week on Nov. 23 after pinning Stanford's Alen Yen (1:55) to clinch a 22-15 win over the 12th ranked Cardinal in Maclellan Gym ... finished with a 17-8 overall record ... went 10-2 in dual matches ... fifth place showing at the Hokie Open ... seventh place finish at the Southern Scuffle ... suffered an injury in the SoCon Tournament and did not return to the NCAAs ... made the Athletics Director's Honor Roll in the fall.
2010-11 SOPHOMORE SEASON: Finished the season with a 19-11 overall record at 197, including 10-4 in dual matches ... went 4-1 in league matches ... placed sixth at the Reno TOC ... finished second in the SoCon ... earned an at-large bid to the NCAAs.
2009-10 FRESHMAN SEASON: Earned All-Southern Conference honors and was on the SoCon All-Freshman team wrestling at 197 ... went 11-15 on the year and 9-10 in dual action ... perfect 4-0 mark against SoCon competition in the regular season ... finished 4th at the SoCon Tournament.
2008-09 REDSHIRT SEASON: Redshirted his first collegiate season.
HIGH SCHOOL: Won individual state championship as a senior...member of 2008 Florida State Championship team...named Winter Wrestler of the Year as a senior...qualified for state tournament in junior year...member of football and cross country teams.
