Dr. William Hunter Garrett, MD is a dual board-certified physician specializing in sports medicine and family medicine. Dr. Garrett grew up in Brownsville, Tenn., where he was heavily involved in sports, including golf, football, basketball, and baseball. After playing collegiate baseball, Dr. Garrett’s high affinity for the training room led him to pursue a career in sports medicine. This choice nurtured a passion for research, ultrasound-guided procedures, and regenerative medicine. But most importantly, Dr. Garrett enjoys journeying with his patients on the road to improvement and recovery.

After attending medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tenn., Dr. Garrett completed a family medicine residency at Erlanger Health System, affiliated with the University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga. He then traveled to Birmingham, Ala., where he completed primary care sports medicine fellowship training at the Andrews Sports Medicine Institute.

During fellowship, Dr. Garrett provided team coverage for Samford University, Birmingham Barons Baseball, SEC championship athletics, Homewood High School, and the American Athletic Conference indoor track championships. He currently cares for local high school athletes and collegiate athletes of Bryan College and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
