- The Chattanooga Mocs women's basketball team dropped their home opener 72-61 against No. 20 Florida tonight … UTC falls to 1-1 overall while the Gators improved to 2-0.Â
- This is just the third home loss for the Mocs since the start of the 2011-12 season ... 66-3 over that stretch.Â
- Florida was up 23-13 after the first quarter and led 35-22 with just under three minutes to play in the half … Mocs held the Gators scoreless the rest of the second period and tossed in a pair of threes by
Chelsey Shumpert and
Shelbie Davenport to trail by seven at the break 35-28.
- Mocs kept it close in the third period and held a 51-50 lead for 20 seconds following a
Lakelyn Bouldin basket. Florida's Eleanna Christinaki put the Gators back up 52-51 just before the end of the third.
- Florida was 8-10 from the field in the fourth quarter and doubled up Chattanooga 20-10 in the final frame. The Mocs did not score over the last 4:38 of the game.Â
- Florida dominated the offensive glass, turning 18 offensive rebounds into a 16-2 second-chance points advantage.Â
- The Mocs got 32 points off the bench, led by 14 from
Shelbie Davenport.  Â
- Christinaki's 29 points on 13-24 shooting (2-6 from 3-pt. range and 1-2 from the FT line) were the most allowed to an individual by UTC since Minnesota's Rachel Banham had 36 on Nov. 29, 2013.
- Chattanooga is 29-31 (93.5%) from the free throw line over the first two games.Â

- Team-high 16 points on 6-12 shooting, 4-4 from the FT line.
- Team-high eight boards.
- Added a block and two steals.
Shelbie Davenport – So.-G
- 14 points off the bench.
- Shot 4-10 from the field, 3-6 from three and 3-3 from the FT line.
- Added four assists and three steals in 31 minutes.
