The Mocs drew 5,718 fans for Saturday's doubleheader.
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's and women's basketball teams celebrated Fan Appreciation Day on Saturday against Mercer and UNCG. The Mocs drew 5,718 fans, the largest crowd to see a Southern Conference men's home game this season.
One of the main attractions for Fan Appreciation Day was the center court sticker overlaying the Power C. Designed, installed and courtesy of Praters Flooring, the sticker was a mosaic of photos of fans taken throughout the season at both men's and women's games. At the end of the day, fans were invited to the floor to try to find themselves in the collage of photos.

The women (20-7, 11-2 SoCon) enjoyed their largest home crowd for a league game this season. The 2,933 who saw the Mocs defeat Mercer 67-45 to take over first place in the SoCon race was the second largest home crowd overall for UTC. UTC's 6,104 for the UConn game on Nov. 30 is still the largest crowd for ANY SoCon home game this season, men or women.
Despite the men's setback to UNCG, the Mocs still lead the SoCon with a 24-5 record, 13-3 in SoCon action. The upcoming Senior Day doubleheader is set for Saturday, Feb. 27, beginning with the women hosting ETSU at 2:00 p.m. The men follow with a 5:00 p.m. showdown against Samford.
It is also Military Appreciation/First Responders Day. All members of the Military - including active, reserve or Veterans - along with all police, fire and emergency personnel receive free admission for themselves and their families (limit 8). Just come to the gate, get a ticket and enjoy the game.
Kids are also FREE again on Saturday with a paid adult.
UTC is in a tight race with Mercer for the SoCon lead in men's basketball attendance. The Bears have played their final home game and drew 48,808 in 14 home games this season for an average of 3,486. The Mocs average 3,373 for 13 games with a total of 43,851. That means UTC needs a crowd of 4,958 to pass the Bears in home attendance for the year.
UTC and Mercer are the only two teams in the SoCon to average over 3,000 fans per game. ETSU is third at 2,989. The women's team dominates home attendance in the league, averaging 2,067 fans per game. Western Carolina is the only other women's team in the SoCon to average over 800 per game (849).
