Men's Basketball Quotes - ETSU

2016-17 Chattanooga Mocs Basketball
Post-Game Quotes at ETSU
Johnson City, Tenn. – Jan. 28 – Freedom Hall

Matt McCall, Head Coach

On the difference in today's game.
"We talked about it before the game that if we kept them off the glass and took care of the ball, then we would win the game. We didn't do either of those. They had 20 points off our turnovers. When ETSU gets on the break with their athletes, that makes them the team that they are, a really good team in this league. Two things we wanted to do in the game we didn't do at the end of the day. If we eliminate those numbers, then we would have won the game."

Responding after early start.
"We got a little stagnant when they turned up the heat. We have to find more ways to take advantage of Justin inside. Those two big guys went at it all night. We have to find more ways of finding him the ball inside more. I thought our execution down the stretch was poor, so we have to take care of that. In situations when you are down you have to pressure the paint, and we have to find ways to do that."

On what needs to improve.
"We have to try and run with it more and get some transition baskets. But at the end of the day, we have to take care of the ball. We are turning the ball over at an alarming rate, and we have to correct that moving forward if we want to win games."

Justin Tuoyo, Sr.-F
On today's game.
"The big man [Hanner Mosquera-Perea] made it tough for us today and especially me. I'm leaving with some bumps and bruises, you have to give them credit. This is a tough place to win and this game was just a great rivalry game and they beat us today. They wanted it."

On the rebounding edge going to ETSU.
"It was a great game from end to end. We knew that if we would have rebounded coming in we would have had a good shot to beat this team, we just didn't gang rebound like we needed to. We knew we had to keep going and running because they won't stop. They got stops when they had to and the crowd was in it. We will go back and watch some film and correct what we need to correct."

On moving forward after first back-to-back losses since 2015.
"We have five seniors, we will watch film and stick together. We are in a good place as a team, we know what we have to do. We aren't losing our hunger. We knew coming in to the season that we were going to get everyone's best shot. We need to get better."
