When quarterback Roger Catarina wasn't running circles AROUND frustrated Middle Tennessee defenders or throwing OVER them, tailback Bucky Wolford and fullback Robert Smith were gaining tough yardage UNDER and THROUGH the front-line defense as Harold Wilkes made his home coaching debut.

Catarino hit 8 of 16 passes for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns and gained 104 yards in 15 carries. Meanwhile, Wolford ran 16 times for 76 yards and Smith gained 71 yards in 20 tries.

The second time UC got the ball they moved 92 yards with Smith scoring from a yard out. Another 92-yard drive, including 26 and 27-yard passes to Little All-America end Angelo Napolitano and Wolford, ended when Wolford took a 1-yard toss for a 14-0 halftime lead.

Wolford scored again on a third-quarter pass of 24 yards and then took an 11-yard TD toss from Catarina for his third score of the night to climax the Mocs' third 92-yard drive of the game. This gave the Mocs a commanding 28-0 lead early in the final quarter.
