MACON, Ga.---Facing a tough field at the Brickyard Collegiate Championship, No. 12 Chattanooga finished 11th following a final round 296 (+16). The Mocs shot rounds of 294 and 296 in the first two rounds to complete the tournament at 886, three shots behind 10th-place Wake Forest.
Seniors Ben Rickett and Jonathan Hodge each finished tied for 13th to lead Chattanooga at seven-over par 217. Hodge carded a 71 (+1) in the final round, while Rickett finished with a second straight 72 (+2).
Freshman Stephan Jaeger finished in 42nd at 223 (+13). Jaeger's final round 76 completed his fall with 12 team counting rounds. Hudson Keener shot a 77 (+7) to finish tied for 67 at 230, while Tripp Harris tied for 69th at 232 finishing with a 78.
Georgia defended its championship shooting 859 (+19) to claim the title by five shots over Georgia Tech. Clemson finished third at 866 (+26).
With three holes left to play, the trio of Russell Henley (Georgia), Cameron Tringale (Georgia Tech) and Drew Weaver (Virginia Tech) were tied for the lead at two-over par. Tringale prevailed finishing at one-over par, 211 with a final round 69 (-1). Weaver finished second at plus-two (212), while Henley fell into a tie for ninth at 216 (+6).
Chattanooga has completed its fall schedule. It opens the spring Feb. 14-15 at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.
