RECAP: Men’s Golf Moves into Top 15 at NCAA Championships

Griffin Law

Griffin Law led the Chattanooga Mocs into a coveted top 15 position through 36 holes of the NCAA Championships in California.

Overview
The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team shot 3-under 285 over their second 18 at the NCAA Championships Saturday at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa. That moved Chattanooga into a tie with #18 Tennessee in 14th with a 3-over par total of 579. The Mocs and Vols, who finished third and fifth, respectively at the Bryan Regionals, are just two behind the 12th-place duo of No. 15 Stanford and San Diego. No. 2 Florida is 16th, two behind the UT system schools.

True freshman and East Hamilton alum Griffin Law led the way with 3-under 69. Evan Rogers, another true freshman, added 71 to the team tally as sophomore Ethan Whitaker contributed 72. Junior Camden Braidech closed out the team score with 73 as Ward Harris narrowly took the drop at 74.

Quotable
"That was really good across the board. We cleaned up what we did poorly yesterday. I thought the guys putted a lot better and really just played solid golf. Getting in that morning wave (Sunday) was our goal. It's really hard to play in the afternoon and get yourself into that top 15 to make the cut for the fourth round. And then we start working on that top eight. We trended today...so we're just going to try to keep on trending the right way." – Coach Blaine Woodruff
