BOONE, N.C. --- The Lady Mocs soccer team fell 2-1 to Appalachian State on a bright, windy Sunday afternoon at the ASU Soccer Stadium.

Chattanooga falls to 5-13-1 overall and 2-8 in Southern Conference action while the Mountaineers improve to 7-8-2 overall and 3-6-1 in league action.

In a physical match, Appalachian State jumped on the board early as Katy Dodd notched her first goal of the season with a shot into the right corner of the goal past Chattanooga keeper Allie Preston to put her team up 1-0. That score would stand through halftime.

The Lady Mocs jumped on the board in the second half to tie the match at one apiece at the 53:17 mark of the game. Morgan Shelton took a pass from D.K. Henry and knocked home her third goal of the season from outside the 18-yard box to knot up the game.

The two squads battled for the remainder of the second half, but Appalachian was able to prevail as Balzano launched a hard shot from the top of the 18 off a pass from Paige Morrow with 11 minutes remaining in the match. The ball sailed above the goalkeepers head and put the Mountaineers up 2-1.
