Lady Mocs Soccer Falls 5-0 to Davidson Sunday

DAVIDSON, N.C. --- Chattanooga freshman keeper Allie Preston nabbed 10 saves but it wasn't enough as the Lady Mocs fell 5-0 in Southern Conference women's soccer action to Davidson Sunday afternoon in Davidson, N.C.

 

The Lady Mocs spent most of the day on defense as Davidson put on an offensive onslaught that saw the Wildcats take 27 shots with 15 on goal and nine corner kicks. Chattanooga had two shots on the day, both by freshman Katharina Rheinheimer who had one shot on goal.

 

Davidson's Kyre Bye-Nagel scored the first and only goal of the first half at with 21:56 gone in the game. She took a pass from Lauren Conner to put the Wildcats up 1-0. She tallied her second goal of the game to give Davidson a 2-0 lead shortly after the second half began from a free kick from Melanee Smith.

 

Tiffany Mumby fielded a pass from Allison Drutchas and went one-on-one with her defender for the third score of the game at the 75:10 mark and Blakely Low, assisted by Elizabeth Underwood, took a shot inside the 18-yard box to give the Wildcats a 4-0 lead with five minutes to play.

 

In the 89th minute, Smith placed a corner kick to Amanda Flink who sent a shot through Preston's hands for the final score of the game.

 

The Lady Mocs fall to 4-8-1 overall and 1-3 in SoCon action while the Wildcats improve to 6-2-3 and undefeating in league play at 4-0-0. Chattanooga will return home briefly to host The Citadel Friday evening at 7 p.m. at the North River Soccer Complex.
