SAN JUAN, P.R. --- In the final day of a season-long 10-day road trip, the Chattanooga men's basketball team fell to Fairfield 61-42 on the last day of the 2008 O'Reilly Auto Parts Puerto Rico Tip Off.

The loss denies the Mocs of its first win of the season as the team falls to 0-5 on the campaign, while Fairfield improves to 2-3.

Nicchaeus Doaks continued to be a bright spot for the Mocs this season as the senior posted 15 points and eight rebounds; two boards shy of this third straight double-double.

Khalil Hartwell was the only other Moc in double figures as the Hartwell scored a season-high 11 points (7-of-13) to go along with eight rebounds, and a season-high three blocks.

The Stags were led by Greg Nero with a game-high 17 points in the Fairfield win. Anthony Johnson contributed with seven points and 12 rebounds, which led all players.

The Mocs struggled on the free throw in the contest as UTC went 9-for-18 (50 percent) from behind the charity stripe, including 2-for-8 (25 percent) in the first half

In the first half, the Mocs were able to overcome its shooting woes as UTC went into the locker room only down nine, 25-16.

Chattanooga shot only 30 percent from the field, and went a combined 0-for-6 from the three-point line. At the break Doaks led all players with eight points, while Khalil Hartwell poured in seven.

In the second half, Fairfield would start out on a 17-7 run out of the gates to extend its lead to 19, 42-23.

The Stags would wind up shooting 58 percent in the half, going 14-of-24 from the field.

The Mocs will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 29 as UTC takes on Tennessee Temple in Chattanooga's home opener. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. from the McKenzie Arena.
