Lady Mocs Cruise Past Alabama A&M Saturday

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Chattanooga's Shanara Hollinquest led five players in double-figures as the Lady Mocs defeated Alabama A&M 87-29 at the Roundhouse in non-conference action Saturday night.
After shooting 40.6 percent in the first half, the Lady Mocs lit up the boards to start the second and made 17-of-26 for a scorching 65.4 percent in the stanza.
The Bulldogs' last shot in the first half came at the 3:26 mark on a layup from Katrich Williams. Their next would not come until the 11:59 mark of the second half. In that time, the Lady Mocs posted a 34-0 run to take a commanding 62-18 lead.
Hollinquest made her fourth 3-pointer of the year in her own nine-point run in the first half. She closed out the game with 16 points and six rebounds in 21 minutes. Kori Penland saw plenty of playing time and took advantage of all 18 of her minutes on the floor. She went 4-for-5 with two 3-pointers for her first double digit scoring game of her career at 11 points.
Jenaya Wade Fray had 12 points, a game-high seven rebounds and four steals while LaCondra Mason and Andrea Neil each tossed in 10 points for the Lady Mocs. Neil went 3-for-3 from beyond the arc and dished out a career-best four assists.
Freshman Capriee Tucker just missed the double digit mark with a career-high nine points.
The Lady Mocs scored 41 points off 31 turnovers and had 20 second chance points on 16 rebounds. After not scoring a single point in the season opener against Samford, the bench produced 38 points.

The Lady Mocs will embark upon a three-game road stretch that begins Tuesday at Southern Conference foe Furman. The Lady Paladins are 3-4 on the year. After starting the season with three straight wins, Furman is on a four-game losing skid. The game will tip at 7 p.m.
