Box Score The men's tennis team posted its second
consecutive 7-0 victory and fourth shutout win of the season Friday
night with a 7-0 win over Murray State.
The
win was the sixth straight for the Mocs who swept all three doubles
matches and each singles match.
Chattanooga
took an early 1-0 lead on the strength of the three doubles wins,
registering 8-2, 8-2 and 8-1 wins.
Head
Coach Carlos Garcia shook up his singles lineup a bit to give some
freshmen match experience. Everyone in the lineup responded.
Senior
Badr Bouabdellah played his customary No. 1 spot and defeated Yuri
Pompeu, 6-4, 6-0. Junior Peter Sauska moved up from No. 3 to No. 2
in place of senior Razvan Axente and remained undefeated in singles,
6-1, 6-3 over Hunter Gerlach.
Junior
Pavel Vostrikov and freshmen Rick van de Bovenkamp and Robert Diamond
each moved up a spot in the lineup. Vostrikov defeated Chris Horton
at No. 3, 6-1, 6-4, van de Bovenkamp was a 6-0, 6-4 winner over
Nicholas Ksiezopolski at No. 4 and Diamond recorded a 4-6, 6-2, 10-6
win over Jadir Semensin at No. 5.
Freshman
Hasan Hamadeh took down Mikel Headford at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-1.
The
Mocs, 7-1, return to the court Sunday at 10 a.m. against Austin Peay
State at the Hixson Racquet Club.
