FRANKLIN, Tenn.---Chattanooga women's golf team, ranked No. 36 in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Ratings Index, shot a final round 302 (+14) to finish 13th at the Mason Rudolph Women's Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club North Course. The tournament featured 12 teams in the preseason top 15, eight in the top 10.
Sophomore Emma de Groot carded her best round of the tourney with a one-over par 73 to complete the event tied for 35th at 223 (+7). For the tournament she had nine birdies with 16 bogeys and 29 pars.
Once again today holes 10-18 were friendlier for the Lady Mocs. Each round, Chattanooga started out at No. 10 and played that nine at four-over par for the week with de Groot playing the nine at four-under par including a five-birdie binge on day one.
Sophomore Christine Wolf and freshman Maria Salinas each carded three-over par 75's on the day. Salinas completed her tourney at 225 (+9), while Wolf came in at 231.
Maria Juliana Loza had a 79 on Sunday, while Kayla Stewart carded an 81. Stewart finished tied with Wolf at 231, while Loza ended up at 233.
Chattanooga finished ahead of three preseason top 25 teams including No. 12 Wake Forest (903) by a stroke. The Lady Mocs topped No. 22 Tennessee (911) and No. 25 Stanford (907) by nine and five shots, respectively.
Defending champion UCLA ran away with this year's crown with a 14-under par score of 850. Southern California came in second at 856 (-8), six shots back, while Oklahoma State finished third at 863 (-1). The Bruins Sydnee Michaels, who aced No. 16 yesterday, claimed medalist honors at 11-under par 205.
