Chattanooga Basketball
Chattanooga 82 ? Western Carolina 75
McKenzie Arena ? Chattanooga, Tenn.
Jan. 17, 2009
Chattanooga Head Coach John Shulman
On the lay of the Mocs to open the second half:
“They were on 42 for a long time and that is a good way to start the second half. 35% from the floor shooting and 28% from the three-point line. We are not very good on the glass at this moment but that is something we can work on. I thought we did really good defensively in the second half.”
On being back in contention in the SoCon North race:
“I hope. You have to ask the other coaches that. I hope we are back in contention. We got off to a rough start but give our guys credit for bouncing back. There is a lot of basketball left. We have played seven and have 13 to go. We need a break. We had five games in 10 days and we won four of them. We need a break and we're taking tomorrow off. We need to get a little fresher.”
Senior Khalil Hartwell
On the first seven minute of the second half:
“We came out there with the intensity to play real good D...try not to let them score and make them uncomfortable. We were successful.”
Senior Stephen McDowell
On getting more two pointers then three pointers tonight:
“We were just running the lanes and we tried to get some stops. Once we get a stop we sprint out as fast as we can and get behind the defense and try to get some easy shots.”
Senior Nicchaeus Doaks
On the intensity of the game:
“The game was fun...I like games like that. It reminds me of backyard basketball getting beat up and the refs not calling it but keep going and playing as hard as you can. Western Carolina is a very physical team and have been that way since I've been here.”
