SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- In the final minute of play, Wofford's Nikki Siebert netted her second goal of the game to lift Wofford to a 3-2 win over Chattanooga in women's soccer action Thursday evening on theWofford campus.
Chattanooga falls to 6-3-1 overall and 1-3-1 in league play. The Terriers move to 3-10 overall and 2-3 in SoCon action.
Chattanooga's Becca Smith (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) took a pass from senior Chelsea Hurst (Flintville, Tenn.) to get the Lady Mocs on the board first with a header to the left of Wofford's keeper in the 13th minute of play.
Siebert, from 20 yards out from the right side, got a shot past Chattanooga's freshman keeper Taylor Davidson (Ooltewah, Tenn.) to tie the match 1-1 at the 14:54 mark. The two teams would battle it out and head into halftime tied.
Wofford's Cassie Rex got off a shot with 50:36 gone in the game from 15 yards out to put the Terrier's up 2-1 with an assist from Siebert, but the Lady Mocs struck back. Sophomore Donna-Kay Henry (Queens Village, N.Y.) picked up a loose ball in the box and found the net to tie the match at two-all.
It would be Siebert's second shot of the game that would be the difference. With time winding down, Siebert took a shot from 25 yards out and sent the shot past Davidson to the top left corner for the game winner with 54 seconds to play in regulation.
Smith got off a game-high six shots while Kelly Downs (Hixson, Tenn.), who assisted on Henry's goal, took three shots. Davidson made a season-best seven saves.
