- Chattanooga is 4-4 on the season, 0-1 in the Southern Conference following an 82-63 loss against Elon Saturday night at the McKenzie Arena. The Phoenix are 3-6, 1-1 in conference play.
- The Mocs now lead the series 8-7 which dates back to the 2003-04 season, Elon's first game in the SoCon. The Mocs have won six of the last nine in the series and are 5-3 at home against the Phoenix.
- The Mocs are now 18-15 in SoCon openers, 13-4 at home.
- UTC is now 614-361 as a DI program (33rd season), 326-81 in the McKenzie Arena.
- Head Coach John Shulman is 94-76 in his sixth year, 62-20 in the McKenzie Arena.
- Chattanooga is 329-173 in SoCon games, 171-44 in the McKenzie Arena.
- For just the third time in eight games, the Mocs won the battle of the boards, 38-36. Elon's Adam Constantine led all rebounders with 11.
- Chattanooga shot a dismal 28.6% in the first half but followed in the second making 57.1% (16-28). The Mocs shot 42.9% for the game compared to 46.7% for the Phoenix, who shot 50% in the second half..
- The 13 pointers made by Elon for the game is the second most made by a Mocs' opponent this season behind 18 by Missouri. Opponents have made 25 threes against UTC in the last two games hitting 39.1% (25-64). The Mocs hit just four of 19 (21.1%) from three-point range.
- Chattanooga had 19 turnovers tonight marking the fifth time in the last six games that the Mocs have had 17 or more.
- Elon's bench out-scored its Mocs counterpart 37-18 led by Chris Long with a career high of 20. Long's line also included nine assists and five steals.
- The Mocs played without the services of three scholarship players (Troy Cage, Dante Harvey, Ty Patterson). Cage is likely out for the year after Thursday's surgery to repair stress fractures in his leg. Harvey is out until mid-to-late January with a wrist injury suffered at Jacksonville State (12/1). Patterson is slated to return on Dec. 12. UTC has 27 man-game missed on the season through eight games.
- Finals started this past Wednesday for the Mocs. They have the week off until next Saturday afternoon hosting Mississippi Valley State at 2 p.m.
Individual
Sophomore Chris Early
- Saw his first action of the season missing the initial seven games with a hand injury.
- Played eight minutes scoring two points and grabbing two rebounds.
Freshman Josh Odem
- Scored a season high with 20 points on 8-12 shooting from the field.
- Shot 2-5 from three-point range and 2-3 from the free throw line.
- Also posted season highs with five rebounds along with his eight field goals made, 12 shot attempts and 38 minutes.
Junior Jeremy Saffore
- Scored 13 points shooting 4-7 from the field and 5-8 from the free throw line.
- Scored his first five points from the free throw line in eight attempts.
- All of his career high eight free throw attempts came in the first half.
