Head Coach John Shulman

On the record break performances of senior Stephen McDowell and Nicchaeus Doaks.

“I am really proud of our seniors. For Stephen to come in and in two years and set records...it is amazing.  I told him that someone will come in and try to break it but that is what records are for.  I am really proud of Stephen.  Through hard work, great things will happen. For Doaks to be the leading rebounder for the modern era is pretty special.”

“I am proud of our team because when you are 4-10 and 0-3 in the league people start to look at you a little strange. 4-10 was a long time ago and if I can do the math that's 9-3 in our last 12 games and two of those three loses were in a double overtime game and by two to Furman after being up 18. We still have a chance to be very good and to be back even at 13-13 and 9-6 in league play...it's been a long time trying to get to that point.  I am proud of our team...really proud of our team.

Freshman Ricky Taylor

“When coach put the second string in we had to go out there and give the team a burst. I have been waiting a long time to get this opportunity and coach has been telling me to keep working because you never know when your time will come.  I believed in that and just had to stay positive.”

Senior Nicchaeus Doaks

Did you guys have a little more motivation to beat Elon tonight?

“You can say that because we lost a tough one at their place and they put us out of the tournament last year. It is always going to be tough game against Elon but it felt good to win a SoCon game to stay in first place.  Now we are ready to focus on Greensboro”

Senior Stephen McDowell

Describe your three pointers at the end of the first half and what that did for your team going into half time.

“Same thing that happened when Ricky came in.  It gave us a burst.  Coming out the second half it gave us the energy to get some stops we needed to push up the lead.”
