Team

- Chattanooga scored a 76-54 win over Elon tonight...with the victory, the Mocs remain in sole possession of first place in the SoCon North Division at 9-6 in league play...UTC is 13-13 overall...Elon falls to 8-15, 5-10 in the SoCon.

 

- Chattanooga's 22 point win was the largest in the series...The Mocs now hold a 7-6 all-time lead against the Phoenix.

 

-  UTC has a 1.5 game lead over Western Carolina (12-12, 7-7 SoCon) in the North Division race...Appalachian State is in third place at 7-8 in SoCon action and 10-13 overall

 

- The Mocs evened their record for the first time this season

 

- The Mocs doubled-up Elon in the paint, outscoring the Phoenix 36-18 down low. 

 

- Chattanooga for Elon into 16 turnovers, results in 19 points for UTC

 

- Elon was up by nine, 20-11, with just over nine minutes left in the first half...The Mocs closed the period with a 23-12 run to take a 34-32 halftime lead...senior Stephen McDowell hit two threes in the last minute of the first period to give UTC the lead...Chattanooga used a 9-0 run to start the second half and held a double-digit lead for the last 15 minutes of the game.

 

- The Mocs are 3-1 on the current five-games-in-10-day stretch...UTC boasts wins at Wofford (84-77) and Samford (66-56) along with the loss at Furman (72-70) and tonight's win.

 

- Chattanooga's focus on inside play and driving to the basket resulted in a 24-3 FT attempt advantage...The Mocs were 17-24 (70.8%) from the line while Elon shot 2-3 (66.7%)

Senior Stephen McDowell

- 2nd leading scorer in the conference at 19.0 ppg entering tonight's game... scored 19 points on 6-11 shooting, 5-9 from 3-pt. range and 2-2 from the FT line

- 3-pt. FG with 28 seconds left in the first half broke Keddric Mays' school record of 209...McDowell now has 213 on the season. 

- Most 3-pt. FGs in a games since hitting seven at The Citadel on Jan. 12

- 47 career double-figure scoring games.

- Has led the Mocs in scoring 15 times this season.

- 20 games with three or more three-pointers made, 10 with five or more. 

- 105 three-pointers made this season is third all-time for a season at UTC... Mays holds the season record with 118 in 2007...McDowell's junior season is second with 108.

- 937 career points leaves him 63 points shy of joining teammate Nicchaeus Doaks in the 1,000 point club.  He would become the 17th member since Chattanooga's move to DI in 1977-78.

 

Senior Nicchaeus Doaks

- Scored 16 points on 5-14 shooting, 6-9 from the FT line...grabbed a game-high nine boards.

- With his fourth rebound of the night, broke Lance Fulse's career rebounding record of 747 in the Division I era...has 753 for his career.

- Now has 1,289 points in his career, 36 behind Lance Fulse (1985-88) in fourth place on the UTC scoring charts.

- Entered game as SoCon's second-leading rebounder at 9.1 rpg...grabbed nine tonight.

- Team rebounding leader in 14 games.

 

Senior Kevin Goffney

- Scored 15 points on 4-7 shooting, 1-3 from 3-pt. range and 6-8 from the FT line

- 12th double figure scoring game.

- Also grabbed six boards and three assists

 

Senior Khalil Hartwell

- 12 points on 5-11 shooting, 2-3 from the FT line

- 45 points in last three games shooting 69.2% from the floor (18-26)

 

Senior Keyron Sheard

- Only two points but added game highs with six assists and four steals
